Greek Cooking Classes in Athens, Greece

Day 1 – Sunday – Arrive in Athens. Settle in and relax at the hotel before meeting your fellow cooking class participants at a welcome dinner at Elea restaurant tucked away down a narrow passageway in the Plaka neighborhood, where you will have your first introduction to typical Greek food while gazing up at the Parthenon.

Day 2 – Monday, 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM – After breakfast at your hotel, your cooking adventure begins with a visit to a local al fresco vegetable market. We will load our bags and head straight to the kitchen at Event restaurant. Our hands-on session is planned around a traditional Greek meal. Today’s lesson runs from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM and will focus on Greek salad, Tzatziki, Mostra (dry rusk, cheese and tomato appetizer), Oven-roasted chicken with garlic rosemary potatoes, and Ekmek (shredded phyllo and fresh cream dessert). After a lunch based on your creations, you have the afternoon free to participate in an excursion, explore Athens on your own, or enjoy some down time.

Day 3 -- Tuesday, 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM – After breakfast at your hotel, Eleni will take you to visit a local hand-made phyllo dough workshop to gather materials for today’s cooking class. You will return to Event restaurant at around 10:30 AM and begin your second cooking class. Today’s lesson runs from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM and will focus on the use of phyllo dough. You will learn how to make multi-layer country cheese pie, spinach pie, meat pie and, finally, the prince of Greek pastries, baklava. After a lunch based on your creations, you have the afternoon free to participate in an excursion, explore Athens on your own, or enjoy some down time.

Day 4 – Wednesday, 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM – After breakfast at your hotel, you will return to Event restaurant at around 10:00 AM and begin your final cooking class.
