Magical Cappadocia - ADD-ON TO ISTANBUL PROGRAM

Cooking Class Vacation Itinerary

Day 1 – Depart Istanbul and arrive in Kayseri.  Meet your guide and check in at your cave hotel.  Enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience staying at this unique, all-suite property comprised of rooms carved out of the volcanic rock, but with all of the comforts of modern living.  After settling in, your first real encounter with Cappadocia’s almost Martian landscape is in the Dervent valley, where the rock formations are amazing. A walk through the Zelve Open Air Museum is a journey into the past, with its troglodyte houses. This is one of the earliest inhabited and latest abandoned monastic settlements in Cappadocia. After Zelve you visit Pasabag’s “fairy chimneys”, where the voice of the wind harmonizes with the songs of the fairies.  After lunch, you visit the famous Goreme Open Air Museum to see the best examples of Byzantine art in Cappadocia. These are found in rock-cut churches with frescoes and paintings dating from as early as the 10th century. You complete the day with a visit to the Uchisar Rock-Castle, giving you a panoramic view of the valleys of Cappadocia.  Return to the hotel.  Your evening is free.

Day 2 – You have the day free to participate in a full-day excursion or two part-day excursions, or explore the Cappadocia region on your own.

Day 3 – If you haven’t already, you may wish to participate in a sunrise hot-air balloon ride to take in the unique Cappadocia landscape.  After breakfast at your hotel, you will depart at 9 AM to visit the large outdoor fruit and vegetable market to check out the local seasonal specialties.  After the market visit, you will enjoy a cooking class at the home of a local family in a Cappadocia village.  After your class you will return to your hotel.  This afternoon you may relax at the hotel, explore on your own, or participate in one of our half-day excursion options.  Your evening is free!  If you have not yet had the opportunity, you may opt to sample the local regional products and participate in a wine and cheese tasting.

Day 4 – After breakfast at your hotel, you will be transferred back to the Kayseri Airport for your return flight to Istanbul.
